Based on the radio series of the same name, the film stars Armie Hammer in the title role and Johnny Depp as Tonto and explores the duo's efforts to subdue the immoral actions of the corrupt and bring justice in the American Old West. BTW, Kemo sabe means "Faithful Friend" according to Clayton Moore, or "Trusty Scout" according to Jay Silverheels in different interviews at different times.$260,002,115 Source The Lone Ranger is a 2013 American western film produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films and directed by Gore Verbinski.

It is enjoyable, entertaining experience and, at the end of the day, all that matters. This is the same formula used for the last version of the Green Lantern which was another box office miss. My only peeve about this film is John Reid being portrayed as a sometime fumbling "Dudley Do Right" and how the character of Tonto outshines him. There is some very good acting in this picture and although slight "traces" of Captain Jack come through in Depp's performance, for the most part he is a credible "Tonto". I really liked the use of Tonto in his later years recounting to a young boy at a County Fair his exploits with the masked man and the use of flashbacks to tell the story.

However, after watching this movie I can say that in general it is a very good, entertaining movie. The movie trailers and marketing approach taken by Disney sort of "confirmed" that ass umption. With Disney behind it and Depp's successes with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise I, as well as many, felt this would be a "westernized" version of Capt. Therefore, I had doubts about this new version with Johnny Depp. When a new version was produced back in 1981 (The Legend of the Lone Ranger) with Klinton Spilsbury - who never appeared in another motion picture, as the Ranger and Michael Horse as Tonto (Which means Wild One), I was disappointed as many others as to the poor quality of the film overall. I grew up watching Clayton Moore and Jay Silverheels portray the "masked man and his trusty Indian sidekick" Saturday mornings on TV back in New York.
